one-day awareness and educational program

Durgapur : Hemophilia Society-Durgapur Chapter successfully organized a one-day awareness and educational program at Durgapur Chapter on 20th November 2025. Prof. (Dr.) Maitreyee Bhattacharya, Director, Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, Kolkata Medical College and Hospital was the chief speaker. Shri Suman Biswas, SDM, Durgapur, Dr. Ananya Mukherjee, Deputy CMOH, Paschim Bardhaman, Dr.Dhiman Mondal, Superintendent, Sub Division Hospital, Durgapur, Dr. Prithvi Raj, Head, Blood Bank, The Mission Hospital, Durgapur Dr. Ipsita Nag, The Medical Officer, The Mission Hospital & Dr. Dipankar Sen, Orthopaedic Surgeon, were present on the program.

Prof. (Dr.) Maitreyi Bhattacharya said that the only way to identify undiagnosed hemophilia patients and to prevent permanent disability and premature death is to create more awareness about hemophilia. Shri Suman Biswas thanked the Durgapur Chapter and encouraged the hemophiliacs to collect their disability certificates and apply for government assistance. He assured all possible support in this regards. Dr.Ananya Mukherjee said that the state health department is already engaged in monitoring the accurate data of hemophilia patients and providing necessary treatment accordingly. Dr. Prithivi Raj told that this awareness program will increase knowledge about hemophilia , improve early diagnosis rates, promote better access to treatment. Secretary Durgapur Chapter thanked the local government and National Health Mission (NHM) for providing the only expensive medicine Anti-Hemophilic Factor free of cost to most of the hospitals in the state. He said that Durgapur Chapter will always stand by the hemophilia sufferers and also assured to provide all possible support to the individuals and families suffering from hemophilia.
